f you live in Texas and you own and have redclaw(Cherax Quads) or any other type of Cherax as pets or any Crayfish in the Family Parastacidae then you need to read this.

We at TexasAquaponics have been in a war with the Texas Department of Wildlife to keep Redclaw allowed in Texas. At one point they were going to ban ALL crayfish from the Southern Hemisphere which would kill our live market to Pet stores and resturants. It looks like we have saved the farming side of Redclaw but now it seems that the Department of Wildlife is going to kill the other half of our market.
If you live in Texas you will NO LONGER be able or allowed to buy ANY Redclaw or any other form of Cherax (Tiger, Marron, etc.) from ANY pet store. They are going to ban ALL live sales for pets.
Not only will Redclaw be banned but ALL crays from the Southern Hemisphere which is 164 species of crays.

So, we save half of our market but now we are going to lost the other half of our market. If this bothers you or you are opposed PLEASE go to the Texas Department of Wildlife and MAKE YOUR OWN PERSONAL COMMENTS. Also PLEASE Send your comment to joedy.gray@tpwd.state.tx.us
Joedy is the one who is making the rules and he is the ONLY one who seems to pay any attention to what we are saying.

Even if you don't live in Texas if you disagree with this please make comments.

Just 10 minutes ago Jody Grey for the Texas Department of Wildlife called my husband and said that the farming side is safe bacause people are complaining about it. Jody them said that because NO ONE is complaining he is going to have to ban 164 varities of crayfish as pets and ban them from all pets stores and pet industries.

ALL COMMENTS WILL HELP!
THERE ARE ONLY 5 DAYS LEFT TO COMMENT!

Most likely if they get out they will become an invasive species. Texas water stays warm enough to support them. There nautraul habbitat is Australia so they are a warm water cray. They get quite large about 6" so if they got out they very well may be able to outcompete native species and cause them to go extinct. In Great Brittian its the oppisite this is the only type of cray thats leagal because some immunis from northern US got out and are now wipeing out there native species but the Cherax can not survive in there water temps so its the only one legal.
