I heard bent spines can mean TB, is this usually the case. There is this one pet store that I see several tanks with many fish that have bent spines so I was just wondering. If it could be TB then I assume that I shouldn't ever get fish from them because it's contagious.

or inbred. I have 2 very bent spine guppy, so I know its time to get new stock, I gave away a lot of my guppy and am in the procerss of adding more blood lines now.

Well, it sounds like either you're seeing fish TB, or just imbred/poor quality stock as grannylvsfish suggested. Regardless, that would raise some serious red flags for me as far as shopping there, given you have noticed it in several tanks. ;)

TB is not as common as people think...many will automatically assume that a fish with a bent spine has TB, when there are actually many other different causes for a bent spine

1. female livebearers that have just given birth will have a "bent" spine.

2. fish that have not been eating will have a bent spine

3. fish with the "wasting disease'' will have a bent spine

4. inbred fish may have a bent spine

5. fish that have not been properly culled with weak genes may have a bent spine

6. a fish with a broken back will have a bent spine

WRONG TURN...
