i am using prime reef by ocean nutrition. fish like it but i was wondering what the best flake food is out there. I feed once frozen/live and once flake a day. any suggestions?

I've been using this stuff for awhile now and my fish absolutely love it.

I use Wardley's Tropical. Basically, look at the protein and fat content. The highest levels of protein you can get the better, generally. Keep an eye out for food that is all moisture, too....and don't buy it. Fish meal is just processed fish products. It's in every food I've ever seen...including the one I use. I dont' think I'd classify my flakes as useless garbage though...

Any flakes that dosent have "fish meal". It is just useless garbage used to make the food. I cant remember which brand off the top of my head, but someone else may remember it.
That would be the majority of fish food brands available on the market. Fish meal is perfectly fine just as long as it was used to make the food while still fresh. But that's true of ANY ingredient...most top brand foods are great.

Fish meal as a FIRST ingredient is bad. It could be used as filler though.

I've been using wardely like forever, and the fishes seem to like it.

In my wardley's, the first ingredient is fishmeal. If I were feeding it as a staple, I may be concerned. But flake is only a constituent of their total nutrient intake.

Er, you do realize that most of their foods have fishmeal as the first ingredient?

I'm somewhat new to tropical fish, but I've been using TetraMin crisps and my fish love it.
