Hey, I’m planning to purchase plants online due to the lack of variety of local vendors as well as enormous prices for certain species (anubus nana = 11bucks ). I would like to buy riccia and a few anubus nanas; I want a lot of bang (value) per buck. Any recommendations?

Try Off-Ice at www.plantgeek.net. His anubias are usually $4.00 or $5.00 apiece, and he's real cheap on shipping. I'm not sure if he has riccia though. I have gotten stuff from him 3 times, and it is always beautiful.

Generally speaking, no matter what online store you buy from, the plants will pretty much look the same. Thats because most of us dealers buy the plants from the same sources. Anubias nana sm bare root typically has 2 to 4 leaves and is about 4" tall and should run 4 to $5. You may find some cheaper, but they would most likely be even smaller. Anubias nana potted in either "medium" or large will have twice as many leaves or more and could be 6 or 8" tall. Other less common Anubias species will vary in availability from different places. For personal recommendations, I can't help you because I am too biased! :p Do a search on google for aquarium plants for sale, and compare prices and overall availability. All the companies you will see listed have been around long enough to be trusted.
