hello all! i am currently running a 90 gallon freshwaater tank with 2 emperor 400s for filteration. the water has been crystal clear, and the emperors run pretty quiet (as long as you have the water level in the tank high enough to avoid the splashing of the returning water) but i do notice that there is a bit more crud and waste on the gravel bed than i would like. so i was thinking about tearing the tank down, and putting in a rugf system in. i also read about ug jet systems, but for my purpose i think the rugf would give a more even distribution of water flow to keep the junk off the gravel. now my questions are, 1 what is the best powerheads to use for rugf? and for a 90 gallon tank, what gph should i be looking for? also i have some cichlids that love to dig, (I currently have about an inch and a half of coarse gravel) so i was thinking what if i cover the plates with either eggcrate, or some type of fine screen type of material? i figure that if i lay the plates on the tank floor, place some gravel, then place the screen, and then some more gravel on top, the fishies will never be able to expose the plate! what are your thoughts? the tank has about 7 fake plants, a peice of driftwood, and a couple of ornaments. no live plants
