Best temperature for my tank?

I have a 20g cycled tank with 4 zebra danios, 6 neon tetras, and 6 gold rasboras.

I've researched & found varied recommendations for water temperature. Various sites recommend the following for neon tetras (in degrees Fahrenheit): 68-74, 68-78, 73-79, 72... :confused:

For the neon tetras, I've seen: 65-78, 66-76, 60-80, 64-74, 75-82.

For the rasboras: 74-78, 72-77, 73-80.

Obviously it's not a science. :)

For now, I have the tank set at 76 degrees, trying to be cool enough for the danios, but not too cool for the other fish. Is that the best temp? Should I make my tank warmer or cooler?

I keep mind at 78F as well- was recommended and my fish seem happy.
 
76 is perfect. almost all common tropical fish are good at temps between 74 and 80.
 
Mine runs naturally around 80-82 due to the ambient temperature of the room my tank's in, even in the warm spells of summer, it doesn't really go above 86 (with preventative measures).

Oddly, I've never had an issue with whitespot (ich), yet my father who runs a tank at 76 has - higher temps seem to help evade this as ich doesn't like temps in the mid 80's. It does increase the fish metabolism - they move around more, but also increases their waste as a result of increased metabolism.
 
Thanks! Sounds like my fish might be happier at 78. I lost 2 of my brand-new rasboras which came from a very reputable store. :mad2: I don't have the time to drive the distance to return them, but I'm hoping the other 4 stay healthy.
