I've read that they are omnivorous, so would it be as simple as dropping some bottom feeder tablets down after lights out? I always feel so paranoid about bottom dwellers because I've never really seen one eating, not the way diurnal fish will, so I just want to be sure it's being fed properly. Thanks!

You could either feed them Algea wafers like the ones made by Hikari you could also feed it pieces of zuchini. You either blanch it to make it sink or rubber band it to a rock and well let it sink. They are omnivorous but there diet should be high in vetable matter. Also if you dont already Ide look into getting some driftwood for the pleco to munch on as well.

i never fed mine and they were fine. uneaten food from other fish and algae in tank should be enough

Mine took a long time to come out and eat, he now eats algae wafers, vegetables, shrimp pellets, pretty much anything that he can find. While still very shy he does come out during the day to eat.

Typically I just drop something in after lights out, and am able to see some activity with the ambient light. Just offer him lots of variety and it will be fine.
