Betta and other fishes

i keep my boys each in their own 10 gal. with 5 or 6 females with them. so far this has been my best experience with bettas. i did the bowl thing because the dude at petco said they are happier in small amounts of water with little or no movement. mine was so active and i felt bad for him. so i put him in a 5 hex with just the filter with some neons and that worked well to. i also had a betta in a 55 with several tetra schools, but i he got way stressed and i dont think i would recomend them in too big of a tank. they are definately the most interesting when they have a good number of females to interact with.

Really, it depends on the betta itself. I would think corys would be fine personally. I had some in with my male and they worked just fine together. Yes, he would give chase once in a while..but never tried to attack them or anything. Be sure you have lots of hidy places (plants, caves, whatever) they should be fine together really.

Really? I have mine in a 20 gallon with a divider. Do you think with more females they will work it out together?

I have a male betta and I have been told yes's and no's by everyone about if they will be okay with other fishes
it depends on betta personality , that s why some say yes and some say no ! u should test if ur betta doin fine in a community tank but keep a close eye on him .
. I have such a big tank for just one fish! (10 gal)
10g is not a big tank ! i have my betta in a 20g all to him self , more space he has more happy he ll be .

I was thinking two small cories, maybe an african dwarf frog. Either the cories, or the frog, not both really. But I also wanted something that wasn't a bottom feeder, any suggestions?
it depends on betta again , some will kill any fish they can even will bother the snails ! some will not notice any other one , u should test , try some small tetras , in a small 10g i think u just can go for 6 neons ...
(Betta not needing a filter and such)
  u want a healthy betta ? u wanna keep ur betta longer ? u need filteration , good water condition , good diet , bettas are one of the most intelligence and most beautiful fishes out there u cant just keep them u need to take care of them , keep 'm happy and see how lovely these little ones will be ...

i have a male betta i an 8 gal now as he started off in a 15 gal with 4 khuli loaches 5 dwarf pygmy corys and 6 glowlight tetra's. he was fine for ages in the 15 but all of a sudden he turned. the best thing to do is to try and make sure you have a back up tank ready just in case.
