Betta Battle Royale

In the future once they're healed I'd get more of the knitting(?) material that you made the dividers out of and silicone a couple sheets together(to make one big sheet) and then cut it do size so that you can place it above all two dividers in the tank. Hard to explain but you might understand what I'm attempting to describe.

I hope your bettas heal, poor babies.

yes it makes sense. I'm just going to push for individual small tanks for each one. there is an ebay sale for sponge filters for 1$ and 1.50$ shipping. So i'll snag a few of those and then each betta has his own home

IMO, a much better idea than to have them in the divided tank. if one betta comes down with some affliction, you don't have to medicate all three if they are each in their own tank. and those lil tanks aren't expensive, and they come with a lid (petsmart).

we've been talking about it for a while, it was just one of those things that just kept being put on the back burner.

adding salt is not the answer. maybe if they had ich, then yes, but with fin injuries and other small wounds from fighting you want to ensure the water is pristine and that they are being fed small amounts throughout the day so that they can get their energy levels back up. keep their tanks away from each other so that they aren't inclined to flare and 'get their hackles up'. keep the lights dim, and keep the area around the tanks calm and quiet.

Bally, grab a couple packages of "Betta Revive" next time you are at the lfs. it's a great all around med for bettas and works well to help mend fins (i've had wonderful success with this product with fin rot!). but don't use it unless there is no fin re-growth happening with pristine water, since unnecessary medicating is, well, unnecessary.
wouldnt the aquarium salt help prevent infection? that's what i always do or is this just something pertaining to bettas?

Oh Bally, I'm so sorry about this unfortunate turn of events! Well, now you can have mini scapes for each tank - personalized to personality, even. Sending you lots of energy for frequent water changes and positive healing (calming) thoughts to your 3 boys!

the best thing to help prevent infection is pristine clean water, clean substrate, and an overall clean as possible environment.

if you had a wound and didn't want it to get infected, would you put salt on it?

Salt is actually a good way to prevent infection (for people), at least as an initial treatment. I don't know if I would do that to fish though because salt also hurts and they can't get away from it once the wound is clean.

salt is a fantastic treatment for piercings. but you only leave it on there for 7-10 minutes. I wouldn't use it on my fish unless they have Ich.

You guys make me laugh. My betta got beat up by a yellow Cichlid and I have a thread showing his rehabilitation if you're interested.
