From time to time my betta makes a clicking sounds like he is getting choked and its rather loud (I can hear it across the room). Nothing is wrong w/ him other this. When he preforms this clicking his gills are flared and he is spitting out air bubbles. Anybody know whats going on? :( ....he has been doing this for about a month or so now and I'm just wondering if I need to worry about it....other than this he is perfectly normal.

is he building a bubblenest? my gourami would make a sound that could be described as clicking when he would churn up air bubbles at the surface of the water. KYle

Well, if he is fine otherwise...isn't showing any specific illness or issue...and is generally healthy and fit, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I know one of my betta makes loud clicking noises when he snaps up his food. Maybe he's just smacking his jaws at you... ;)
