in my 29 gallon tank with sepae tetras, I have a blue crowntail. Last night I put an a. uvueleus in the tank. This morning he is black and his finnage is much darker too. Is this a sign that he is happy? I've had him about 2 weeks.

A similar thing happed to the betta in my other 29. He was almost white and after a few days in his new digs he turned blue.

I recently read something about a 'marble' gene in bettas that can cause them to change colors or even go colorless.
Maybe that's it?

All my white bettas change color either immediately upon getting home or after a few months.
My blue boy is now tie-dyed lol, and my red boy is turning purple! (Though he might just be trying to impress the girl with purple incandescence next to him ;) heeheehee!)

As far as I know it's perfectly normal.
(And I'm glad I finally read something about it, cause I was sure some of them had been at least slightly different colors when I got them, I thought I was just being a bad fish mommy!)
