We got a shipment of Bettas in at work this week. While we were removing them from their bags and placing them into display cups, I found one that caught my eye - I just couldn't leave him in the store, he's the prettiest little thing.
After getting him home, I realized that I've never seen a fully snow white betta before and I'm wondering if it's unusual? His fins are almost silvery, his eyes are dark so I know he's not an albino. Does anyone know the ins and outs of betta colouration, or a good site to visit for more info? I'd like to know what this colour is called and how common it is - it would be really nice to find a similar female to breed my new betta with.
TIA

Here's a pic - it's not great, but it's the best I could get today.

He looks incredible. Watch out for your snails if you want to keep them, though.

Are pure black ones rare? I saw one at Walmart when I was buying my red and purple guy.

Yes, that's an opaque betta. Very pretty fish by the way :) Black ones are hard to find, especially at local LFS's and petstores as the breeders usually keep those for breeding stock if they're up to par.
I have a ton of bettas! I have 2 blacks,2 opaques, a couple oranges, yellows, yellow with turqoise, blues, reds, purples, greens and one that's a peachy pink colour.
Most of the fancier colours I got through aquabid.com with the fancy finnage.

Wow, nice fish!
I cannot say it's very common!
