betta.. do they get lonely

some bettas go into depression from lonliness when separated from their siblings if theyve been with them since birth... but if u wanna put a betta with other fish i think u should get a bigger tank for the betta first (i put one per 5 gallons) i think they r compatible with tetras? i might be rong but i think i read that somewhere

My betta is in a 30G community tank with neons, glowlights, and oto's. He's very active, vibrant and is loving life.

bettas will not live long and well in community tanks

Bettas can actually do very well in community tanks, it just depends on the individual Betta's personality and what fish are in with it.

Bettas can live well and long in community tanks, it is a MYTH that they can't live in a community tank/prefer to live alone.

Throw him in the 10g and try to put the danios in a bigger tank. Not that bettas don't get along with danios, just that danios are extremely hyper and would get pent up and agressive in a tank that was too small, bouncing off the sides and such :D

I had a betta a couple of years ago, and he loved having white clouds in with him. Nothing made him feel more macho than flaring at the white clouds and have them instinctively school away from him. I think it gave the white clouds something to do as well, honestly.

OK, I'm curious, why no inverts? What's wrong with a snail?

A larger snail like a brig would add way too much waste. But if you mean the smaller, prolific snails (ponds, ramshorns, MTS) I agree, you could throw some of them in. An even better option, though, in my opinion would be to upgrade.

Agreed. Some bettas are naturally murderous and just kill everything they see, but others are fine with tankmates and some are actually completely mellow. I had a pink double tail in my 75g like that.

I've got a betta in with 6 guppies, some brigs, a pleco, and a kuhli loach. And everyone gets along just fine. They really do a complete 180 when given ample space and stimuli in their environment. My guy was just the most depressed little betta when he first came to me. He would lay on the bottom of the bowl and not move. So I moved him and it's made a world of difference. His colors are so vibrant and beautiful and he's such a goof. :)

I have a Betta with Danios, not in a 10 though. It might work, but a 15 or 20 would be much better. It really does just depend on their personalities.
IMO some Bettas do get bored and depressed, although others are fine.
