I have a betta in a 2.5 gallon tank. I have tried to put him in with other fish but he has tried to kill them. I got a snail for his tank to try and clean it and within 1 day he killed it too. I want to put something in there that will clean the tank what can I put in it? I have some algea and I dont know what to do about it. Thanks.

go out and get a sponge, one without any chemicals on it, and scrub the alage off. get some hornwort (plant) as well. it will out-compete the algae for nutrients, keep your tank clean, and releases a natural algecide.

your betta is probably one of those that just can't get along with anyone else.

If you could get a bigger tank, you might be able to add something, but chances are you just have an aggressive little guy and he would probably go after any new additions

I have a betta right now in a 10 gallon 1 added 6 ghost shrimp last week

he killed them all in less than 48 hours.

my other bettas have been just fine with shrimp and many other fish

when i bought this guy he was housed with neon tetras

they all have thier personalities

you might have one that like his solidarity

algae scrapper is the way to go

Let me get this straight, you are looking for some animal you can ADD to your 2.5 GALLON tank to help CLEAN it?

How hard is it to keep a 2.5 gallon tank clean?

graphic-
you're so fish savy-
you gotta give em a break-

it takes a while for it all to sink in - things like 1 betta is the maximum bioload in a 2.5 gal, come slowly for the novice.

nor have they yet expirienced thoroughly gravel vacuming a 125 to compare the difficulty of maininence tasks.

:D

I know but at 2.5 gallons you gotta laugh... I set aside entire days for water changes.... LOL.

I have a platy in with my betta. they seem to just ignore each other. A few times the platy seemed "interested" in the betta and all it took was the betta to flare at him a few times and now they just kind of stay away from one another. I also have a few neon tetras and the Betta just ignores him. They are in a 10 gallon tank.

I am the owner of the betta and tank and I have another problem. Just for your guys info, I have the snail because the algae is the slime kind, not the green stuff you guys were probably referring to. Anyway, we thought the snail was dead, but it wasn't. So that was good, but my betta had some scales ripped off because he scrathed them on the snails shell. Is this harmful to my betta? He is acting like himself so I don't think he is hurt, but I want to make sure. Thanks again.
