hi all...

i guess i'm not entirely a newbie, but I've only had a few bettas ever...they're the bestest. anyways, i was making a water change for a 1.5 gallon that i spoil my betta with...and he got stuck underneath a falling plant as i was removing water. he struggled to break free and ripped his top fin off...pretty much completely. there is maybe one strand left.

he looked completely in shock but can still swim fine...he is still eating normally and all. im so scared for him...will he live?

Hi, Your betta is not going to die. You have to remember that in the wild they get in fights all the time and loosing a fin was and is nothing to them. They are very hardy little guys. But if you are worried about it, just go buy something called Melafix. It helps their fins and prevents any infections that may happen.

Hope this helped

Add stress coat to the water to replace the mucus coating. Than like said above add melafix which will prevent any bacterias from infecting the fish since the fish is exposed now. Melafix should also help the fin grow back some.

Good luck.
