Betta, now what's wrong!!!?

I recently posted about my betta with white stringy stuff hanging off of him. We decided it was poop b/c I was feeding him Spirula flakes. So I started feeding him blood worms and Spectrum. He seemed to feel so much better. Now he is sitting at the bottom of the tank under a plant leaf not moving. His gills doesn't even move! I thought he died! When you poke him he moves around and just goes right back under a leaf. What could be wrong with him? He looks normal, his scales are not sticking out or anything. The white string is gone.

How much are you feeding him??? This could be a digestive issue related to feeding, or age...How long have you had him?

I have only had him a few months. My fiance has been feeding him two to three worms, depending on their size. He gets worms about every other day. The other days I feed Spectrum and I try to make sure he only gets a few pellets....maybe like five or six? He ate one worm the other day and that was all he wanted.

Ok, try not feeding for a day or two...something is probably going on with his digestive system...When you do feed, just do the pellets...2 or 3 for a while...Is he bloated at all??? Pooping?

He does not look bloated at all. I have not seen him poop since the white stringy stuff.

Are they fresh bloodworms? My betta never seemed quite right after I fed him freeze-dried bloodworms, and I have since stopped giving them to him.

Try a round of Maracyn 2....It is effective on a number of bacterial infections and also effective on fish that are not eating...Dont know what else to tell you...Lay off the BWs for a while for sure...

Thanks guys! I will try the Maracyn 2. The blood worms are frozen, not dried. I thaw them out and pick some good ones to feed him.

Ok now he has dropsy!!!! This happend to my last Betta. I switched his diet to betta flakes, he got bloated, then dropsy, then died! I don't want to lose another one! What am I doing wrong? Is it the diet switch that freaks their digestive track off and then causes dropsy? I'm going to buy medicine right away!

I treated the aquaruim with Maracyn Two and I put an air stone in the aquarium and raised the temperature just a bit. Anything else I can do? I hope I caught it early enough.

I'm thinking the change in diet upset his digestive track...?
