I keep finding bettas in these countries and they are wanting to sell them overseas. Some of them are very beautiful, however their countries must be completely saturated with bettas so that they have to start selling overseas in such large numbers.

Also it's annoying to weed though all these overseas breeders when browsing. Wish there was an option to not list breeders out of your country.

its not entirely saturation.. its demand.

nobody in thailand wants to pay for readily available fish. just like i would get dirty looks if i were to try sell someone a brim. the only chance i would have is a luxury expense.. meaning they would rather pay me to catch a brim than to do it themselves.

in thailand, bettas are readily available, and some people from there will pay for exceptional specimens, but most people dont care cuz they could easily go down to the paddy and pluck one up themselves. you on the other hand will pay $5 for a betta.. and that's in American/European money.. meaning thats a good chunk of change compared to thailand. so they harvest as many as they can and the breed them as much as they can and they sell them to people for as much as they can.. in many cases they can earn more by selling bettas on the internet than they can by working. i'd sell fish too.
