i have a crowntail betta right now, i've owned bettas on and off for about 15 years, no more than 4 at a time though. i've only EVER kept them in 1-1.5 gallon bowls. i do 100% water changes once a week, and almost always have a live plant in the bowl. they've always done great.
i decided that i wanted to get an actual filtered tank for my new crowntail. he's in a bowl right now, but i was thinking that sometime around christmas i would get him a 5 gallon hex tank, one of the Aquatech ones with the biowheel and light in the hood. the reason i chose the 5 gallon hex is because its taller than it is long, and i have real limited space. i really had to fight to find a place for my 10 gallon that i just finished cycling. the 5 gallon hex should fit on my book shelf though.
my question is, when i get the tank, would there be enough room to add an african dwarf frog or two? if not, is there any other small fish that i could add to this tank? or should i just keep the single betta in it?
