This afternoon at work we got our shipment of bettas from Singapore. They're shipped in TINY sealed bags with a few spoonfulls of water, hundreds are stuffed into one large fish bag and they're then placed in a box - quite frankly, it stuns me that they survive the trip. I was placing the fish into our store cups for display and found one stunning solid white fish that I instantly fell in love with. I placed him aside in his cup, and at the end of the day I brought him home. I've decided to house him in my planted 1g for now, as the current is low and there's no competition for food or space other than the few ghost shrimp that hang out in the moss.
Right now he seems exhausted, hanging listlessly in the plants an inch or so from the surface. He's not breathing hard, doesn't seem stressed; he just looks too pooped to move. I'm assuming his muscles are probably atrophied from living in cramped quarters all his life, does anyone have an idea of how long it might take him to recover? I plan to feed him frozen foods and drop them near his nose so he doesn't have to struggle to eat while he's gaining his strength back, but I'm not sure if there's anything else I can do to make things easier for him. TIA for any advice
