I'm having a bad week with my fish. I have one betta with dropsy that I don't think is going to make it and I have another betta swimming funny. By that I mean he isn't swimming perpendicular to the bottom of the tank. He lists to one side. We've had him for a few months, but he just started the funny swimming a couple of days ago. He is active and eating well. Does anyone have any ideas about what it could be?

Tank Info:
Sole occupant of 5 gallon, non-planted tank
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrates ~15-20 (water change scheduled for tomorrow)
Temp 76F

Thanks,

Melissa

It might possibly be swim bladder disease. Some fish are born with it then it seems to correct itself but it often comes back later as the fish ages or if it is under stress. Here's a link to webpage on it, see if your fish fits the description.

Its not really a treatable disease, its more of a condition. Unless stress is a factor, then that can be alleviated. GL with it.
