ok i know this question is asked a lot but here we go again im probly gunna get a 5gal to take the place where my ten used to be and im going to put a male betta in it so he dosnt have to be in a little betta tank anymore and i was wondering what would be good to put with him and i alreadt have an adf and i dont really want any more and i know cory's and ottos can work but what else is there is there a more active fish i can keep with him.

depends on the betta, some wont do well with any fish, but most of them do well with any fish that doesnt nip fins, or dont have wavy fins and bright colors (like guppies) as the betta may confuse it with an enemy male betta.
good tankmates are normally some ghost shrimp, ADFs, and I've had good experience with keeping them with tetras. but of course, it depends on the betta.

Unfortunately a 5g is too small for otos or corys, they would want to be in a group of at least 3 to not be miserable and the tank is too small for that. You could however try another ADF or shrimp and or a snail

I would put at the most a group of three pgmy cories, and even then with the betta and 3 pygmies it could be overstocked. Pygmies stay very small, less than 1.5 inches, and a very peaceful yet active fish.

I've got a betta in with white clouds. Works out very well.

I have a betta in a 55 with an angelfish, tetras, platys, loaches, and ottos. While the 5 gallon is an improvement I really enjoyed the activity level of my betta as I had him in my 20 gallon. that size seemed to be what he needed for interest and play.

A 5g is too small for tetras. Pygmy cories need larger schools than "regular" cories - at least 6 or so. There isn't really room for that. Full size cories are too large for that tank also. An ADF, as you already know, is an acceptable choice, as are Apple/Mystery snails.

The only other options are things like Microrasboras and those are hard to come by.

A 5g is not as big as it may seem...
