betta vs dwarf gourami?

I'd say if you want the shrimp to reproduce successfully, be very careful what you put in there. I asked almost this same question about whether or not I could put my (very, very tiny) platy fry in my rcs breeding tank and everyone resounded with a big NO! They say even the baby platy would snack up the baby shrimp as fast as they would come out, and that baby shrimp, or shrimp in general, anyway, are a favorite to all fish. About finding rcs, I bought mine on aquabid. I bought a 20 pack, for 20.00, and was disappointed to get a bag the size of a golfball, even though it was teaming with tiny shrimp, and could only count about 8 shrimp at a time, so I thought I sucked them up with the vaccum cleaner and accidentally threw them out. Then yesterday I was surprised to see not only about ten male shrimp, but also about ten really red females... half of which are berried, leaving me to wonder where they've been hiding this whole time. I now think that I got a good deal, and patience is a virtue...lol. Anyway I have really had a good experiences with aquabid, and I also got my beautiful pink, purple, and blue briggs mystery snails from there, which is what I chose to put in the tank for some diversity, along with ramshorn. Sorry for the novel...Anyway, aquabid is like heaven, and remember you can always put things besides fish in the tank to make it a little more interesting.(just from my personal experience.) And also I hear briggs produce infusoria, which is ( I imagine), a tasty snack for my future rcs babies.

I think with a heavily planted tank sure, you'll get some survivors amongst the offspring however a good share will be in the gouramis belly.
