Ive had a betta, beautiful little guy, for almost two months. He does however, have a huge lump on his side. Its under the scales, so its very much internal.

What could this be, and in your opinion, will this shorten his life??

Probably a tumour....and it will shorten his life. I had a female betta with a tumour and she did quite well for a month or two. She really didn't show any signs of being sick until about week before she died...started swimming more slowly...but still eating.

I just did my best to keep her water very clean for comforts sake, really not much you can do about it if that's what it is.

it actually is a tumor ive never known anyone that had a fish with a tumor but you should read some books on it and get some freshwater books on how to maintain your tank and it will help alot thats what i did and now my tank is perfect
