I have a 47 gallon planted tank with BGA. I know the best way to erradicate this is to black out the tank and not to feed for 4 days.

However, I have 2 jewel cichlids with 9 babies. They're growing and now about 1-2 cm long and I can't starve them for 4 days.

Is there another way to get rid of this or should I just wait until the fish are bigger and can handle the starvation?

If you are intent on doing a blackout, I'd just do the blackout but also still feed them in small amounts, if you use live foods like vinegar eels or microworms there is much less waste, just do it sparingly.

Another method is antibiotics, if you have a spare filter media to switch over after the antibiotic is cleared up, since it may throw you into a minicycle.
