I have a pair of Oscars, they are 3 years old now, and every 1.5-2 monts they lay eggs. The eggs are layed on a ceramic plate, i remove the plate and put it in a 40liters tank with same temp. (28C).

In two series i had the same problem: the eggs hatch, the fry begin to swim, and around two weeks old they begin to be disoriented with rotation around axis, don't eat and finally die.
I dont' know what is the motive. I've lost the two series of fry and i am verry dissapointed. The water temp. was constant, i've removed some fungused eggs, the water looked clean... and it had aeration too...

What should i do next time? leave the eggs with the parents? What if they eat them? Or still separe the eggs? Must the water be treated with some blue methilene? Or something? They seem to get the disease in this two weeks!

Excuse my language, english it's not my best skill :)

Leave them with the parents. If they eat them, then you do not want them to breed and pass on their bad parenting instinct.

From what ive learned about cichlids is with there first batches they will eat there young out of frustration or hunger or just doesnt know better for its there first time but after a couple of batches they stop and actually raise them. I would leave them in give them a couple of chances and if it doesnt work out post another post with outcome. HTH.
