Well they were probably just the Ninja turltes that went back in time in the 3rd movie.

But I read somewhere that Bettas were kept in a sectioned off spot in rice fields. The farmers would then catch the ones they thought were the best and take them to town. There they would have them fight until one died (I guess they were a bit more aggresive back then) but I don't know when the first recorded account of this was.

Anyway, back to Koi.

Does anyone know if they are the oldest kept fish? I think it was either Koi or Betta's

But I'm not for sure.

I read somewhere that it was the paradise fish that was kept first in an aquarium. (Of course that is not the same as keeping fish in a pond, like you would Koi.)

hmmmm..... so the question is "which is the "earliest" kept fish... betta's or koi?"..... I read it wrong the first time.
