Rule #3 :...You will NOT make $40,000 a year right out of high school, and you won't be vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
How about 50k? I know some people that do. AND, for later on:
Kids at the University of Waterloo are getting 100k+ jobs at IBM right out of school?

People also lie about their salaries. :o

I think college grad's expect a much higher salary then what they are offered for their first job. I think a lot of the blame goes to the universities who inflate the "expected" salaries to promote enrollment in degrees. True, some people may take a first job out of school for $100k but that would be much less than 1% of the global grad's.

I really like those statements!
Oh, Kas, even if you ARE a teacher you do not get the whole summer off. A teacher often ends up with only a month off, and generally can't take vacation unless school is out anyways. And teachers get paid almost nothing . . . university profs might be a different story. :p:
Teachers here get almost 2 moths off. They only have yo go in on the last week. Around here they make at least 70-75k.

My uncle works at IBM, manager of human resources. He said 75% of all new people they get earn 90k+.

Oh i dont doubt that at IBM but i would guess that most of those people are not recent college grads. Plus if your talking about salaries in CAD as oppossed to USD then that would make a big difference.

How much you make depends very much on where you live. Here, starting pay for a LEO, public school teacher, fireman, etc. is above 40,000. Other places in the US 40,000 would be one of the highest paying jobs avaliable.

Right on. And, the exception is not the rule.

Very true comments. It all depends on cost of living where you live/available salary.
