Can someone give me a suggestion of how best to go about finding a single bio ball or two? The bio ball mod for the maxi jet pumps (and others) looks easy and promising but I don't want to buy a gallon of bio balls just to use one or two.

I found these pictures instructions on reef central.

What does the bio-ball mod do?

There's a fair amount of people out there with a bunch of extra bio-balls just sitting dry in a closet or basement. A wanted post on some of the various reef websites might turn up someone in your area that'll just give you a handful of them.

I got a bunch of extras...where are you?

I have seen them for sale at either petco or petsmart for use in reptile water dishes to save crickets from drowning.

It essentially turns an impeller into a semi needlewheel, so it is more like the bioball needlewheel mod. It seems to have worked well for people who have seaclones.

I would look up on the mesh mod and do that over the bio ball. The purpose of the mod is to shred up the incoming air to fine micro bubbles.

Thanks folks, I may try both. I think I was drawn to the bio ball mod because the impeller is not changed in any way. Seems like if you mess the mesh mod up...you need a new impeller.
