I used bio-spira in my 55gal tank yesterday about 2:30p. I took some tests this morning at about 8:00a. and the results are this ammonia = 0, nitrites = 0, and nitrates = 5.0 Should I let the tank sit for a few days or can I do a partial water change? I have 2 dwarf gouramis, 4 zebra danios, 2 strawberry tetras, 2 gold tetras, 2 red tail sharks, and 1 pleco. I am also thinking about moving the danios and tetras to a different tank and adding in some larger fish, any sugestions as to what will live with gouramis and sharks?

Do not change the water for at least 48 hours.

If the tank is cycled, as yours appears to be, I would leave it for at least 5 days. Test every morning and night to make sure there are no "burps".

Why would you want to change the water, anyhow? Those are perfect parameters.

I was thinking of all the waste that the fish are producing but then again maybe I am being paranoid lol this bio spira stuff really works Now tme to get bigger fish

Do not put more fish in.

Bio Spira requires you to put the FULL bioload in all at once. You need to wait at least two weeks before you add anymore fish.

If you add any more fish before that, you risk putting your tank into a very long mini-cycle. The colonies are not mature enough for more fish yet.

Seriously. Been there. Tried that. Didn't like the result ;)

thank you for your help and sad to say I have added some smaller fish already. I will keep checking the test and watching closely as to what will happen

My ammonia is up just a tiny bit not yet at .25 but gettint there. Is it safe to change some water to remove the fish waste or would this not be recommended
