Bio Spira?

I wouldnt use it, its not the same product that marineland used to sell. Drs Foster and Smith sell the actual product, its caled "One and Only" now.

When did they change bacterial formulations? I know they were having troubles a few years back with their stock cultures crashing on a consistent basis, but I didn't think they changed it outright.

Dr. Timothy A. Hovanec the inventor and patent holder of BioSpira left Marineland to start his own company called Dr. Tim's Aquatics.

Ah, that explains it. Wow, Tim had been with Marineland/Aquarium Systems for quite a long time. I never realized that he left. Then again, I guess it's like Charles Delbeek and the Waikiki Aquarium. I realize they move on to bigger and better things, but it is always sad to see them leave.

So wouldn't Marineland have bought the patent from Tim? It wouldn't make sense that they didn't. If you have the time, just cycle the tank by curing the live rock in your tank.
