Bio Wheels and medication

I have 2 filters on my 70 gallon fish tank and they both have 2 biowheels apiece. I am currently medicating that tank, and the directions say to remove activated carbon during use. I did that and I was just wondering if I should remove the bio wheels too?

No no no no -- the biowheels should never be removed or cleaned. They supply the vast majority of beneficial bacteria to your tank. Removing them could make it very biologically unstable.
