I have that same gravel in my tank, and after about a month it is starting to lose it's color. Top fin blows IMO.

what does everyone think of the Estes brand of black gravel?

I have Estes black gravel and I would not recommend it at all. The black is actually starting to deteriorate and that ugly multi-colored neon crap is starting to show through! Apparently it's just that cheesy neon stuff with a black coating. Highly disappointed.
*sigh* I'd really like to find nice black gravel but I might need to get sand eventually.

Aquatic Gardens Premium Aquarium Gravel is the black gravel that I have in my 27. One or two of the pebbles has lost it's black outer shell, but that's it. I am pretty rough with it when I do a gravel vac but it's still pretty good. Rinsed really well too.

Little blurry, but you can see the black gravel (any blue specs that you see are from the previous gravel, I'm not quite tall enough to reach the bottom of the tank so I wasn't able to get every little bit when I took it out)
