I've got two Black Moores, one which likes to sleep in the bottom right back corner of my 20 gallon extra-tall tank. He's not on his side, and he's quite active during feeding times. He has no problem getting his fair share, and is not out-competed for food. Is this anything to worry about? Do I just have a lazy fish?

Also, I've had this tank up and running for about 6 weeks now. I did a 2 gallon water change a week ago, but I do not have any test kits yet. The pet store told me to give the tank a couple of months for the ecosystem to set itself up before starting to influence the tank. Does this sound like good advice? I am begining to notice some green algae growth on the walls and plants of the tank.

Also, why can't I find any information online about the Black Moore species? What is the scientific name for Black Moores? They can't be that uncommon.

My black molly does the same exact thing. Sits in the corner until feeding time, then swims around for a while then goes back to the corner. I'm beginning to think it has something to do with not a lot of hiding places in my tank.

i have a healthy black moore, sleeps on the bottom durning the night....sometimes durning the day he naps on the bottom but most often is swimming around

It's not "Black Moore"

It's "Black Moor", try searching for that. A black moor is basically a breed of fancy fantail goldfish, so care for the species is likely identical.

You are basically using these fish to cycle your tank, which is not at all ideal. How big are they? Full grown they will be too big for that tank, these fish (and all goldfish) require practically double the biofiltration of other fish for long term health.

With that in mind, some species of goldfish live over 20 years.
