I have had 6 of these guys in my 10 gallon for a month and a half now, and I am in love with them! They are fiesty, fun, hardy, relatively easy to find, pretty, communal, etc... By far the most interesting and attractive common tetra!

Yes, they do seem to be a hardy type of tetra. I have one that has been around a long time. I had three neon tetras and three phantom tetras.

I don't know what happened but all my neons died in a little over a year, 2 of the phantom died shortly after but one phantom is still hanging around and it's been almost two years now. I also have 2 plecos that have been in the tank since I started fishkeeping.

I would like to get about 5 more phantoms because they are pretty hardy and I think a small school would be neat.

They do last a while. I had one die, but that was because she was bullied to death by a male. I couldn't get her out in time. I isolated that male, and then reintroduced him, and he seems to be fine. I have quite the color motif going here, with my black phantoms, angels and cories. Very cool if you ask me.

Pssh! No way! My puffers would just eat 'em! :D
