black sponge from Amazon. Would you trust it?

i got this black sponge from Amazon thinking I could cover up my some of my filter intakes and possibly use them as filter media. Would you trust it? I figure everything else is made in china, so why not lol

BTW, the dimensions (if they are dimensions) on the back (32x12x2) are not correct. It's not inches, it's not metric. I just hope it doesn't contain lead.

Also the suggested number of uses is 16. Not 10, 15, or 20, but 16. lol

I've bought sponge filters on ebay shipped from HK before and never had any problems.
