I'm getting in a big shipment of apistos, and I don't want to introduce disease and algae (in particular, thread, hair, fuzz algae) into the tank.

I've heard stem plants can't take bleaching too well - so I guess that owould be watersprite.

I'm planning on using a 1:19 bleach/water solution...what's the least amount of time bleaching you'd recommend to achieve those 2 goal while not killing off my plants? The tanks I just bought them from had some algae, but the plants are free of algae, at least VISIBLY...but I'm sure there are spores attached...

I'd recommend quarantining the plants rather than bleaching

On an old thread, someone recommended a dip in Jungle Clear Water. Maybe do a search for "Jungle Labs" and see if it turns up.

I've done 20:1 bleach dip on java fern, it was ok, sprite had major leaf damage but the plant regrew. I just rinsed & threw the java moss in a jar with chlorinated tap water for a week or so. Had to pick off a bit of browned moss but no pesty snails.

i used a 1:19 bleach mix for sprite recently. the entire plant turned brown but new plants quickly started to grow off it and it has recovered nicely. i would recommend it for safety sakes.

I dont bleach sprite or frogbit as they do not react well at all. Death is not uncommon. Moss, ferns and anubias all tolerate bleaching fine.
