i know she is pregnant for sure because i can see the eyes on her gravid spot. but these past 2 days she started bleeding internally near her spine and anal fin, mostly on her gravid spot. the bleeding near her spine disappeared, but she is still bleeding near her anal fin, like she has hemmorhoids. she's still a very lively fish, and can't find anything wrong with her. pH=7.0, ammonia=0, nitrates and nitrites=0, temp 77F

is it common for pregnant guppies to have a blood spot before giving birth?

I have never seen it. Keep us posted please.

update

i think she may be dying now, because she is dwelling around the bottom. everything else seems fine though pH=7.0, ammonia=0, nitrates and nitrites=0, temp 78F. her gravid spot is a little more swollen now and still has red spots surroungding her anus but the gravid spot is still black. her scales were spikey earlier but now they're not spikey anymore.

i have a crappy camera, i can't get a clear enough picture

if i will have to euthanize her, whats the best method? can i assist with her birth while she's still alive by squeezing her gently?

You coudl try helping the birth of the fry. If the momdies, the fry will have no chance to survive either.

To euthanize, small fish are quickly killed by smashing their heads with a heavy object. Also, a good throw against the floor will do, but a lot of people will argue aginst that.

euthanize fish

i dont think i can smash its head, but someone told me to put it in ice cold water (almost frozen water), and its gone just as fast

babies born

the babies were born on its own, then the mom died. the babies aren't moving, i'm assuming most of them are dead too, but you could see some of their hearts beating, but i think they will die too

Sorry eve....it's sad to lose one, let alone her fry too.

Perhaps some of the fry will come around. It didn't sound like a good situation for the female. Perhaps there were just too many and it was too much a strain on her.

I'm sorry for the loss.
