Well some of you may of been following my thread on freshwatermadness about my acaras....I will brief you here if not. I have a pair of blue acaras....the first time they bred was about 4-6 months ago and I pulled the fry too early and lost em all. They were in QT at the time as I had just got them. So I moved them to the 55g with a couple Green Terrors and a couple other fish....never bred. I just recently gave them their own 29g in hopes they would bred again...Eggs were laid in the first 10 days alone and now I have about 100-200 fry. Here are some pisc...

Mom and dad watching over fry....mom a bit scraped up from the process.

Dad guarding the fry.

Congratulations!!
I love Blue Acaras, what are you going to do with the fry?(Hint,Hint):)
Lovely pair you have.

Well, they ate the fry...I am sure I will have a new batch in a couple weeks and they will learn to be good parents....it may take a couple spawns.
Wow sorry to hear that. I am trying to get my geo juruapris to breed.

i dont want to deture this threed but what size do you normaly see in blue acaras

My pair of rainbows are going on there 3rd spawn and i am hoping they get it right this time! The past two were typical for young cichlid parents lol. they didnt know what to do so they ate the eggs. But that's ok.

When we bred acaras, the male began to eat babies after ~1-2 weeks. He'd be ready to breed again with all the "conditioning live food". The female would try to protect the wandering fry but was ready to breed after 3-4 weeks. You'll need to move them to get many survivors (as in lots!). It got hard to find homes for them eventually. Nice fish, I kinda miss them.
