I purchased a pair of blue acaras in January and they are now on their 3rd spawning. (These fish are only 6 months old.)
The first 2 spawnings,i let nature take its course in my 100 gallon
community tank and the fry were all eaten in about 6 days by the other fish despite gallent efforts by the parents to protect them.
The 3rd set of fry i have removed,(at 2 days old) and placed in a 30 litre tank, free of plants stones ect.so i can observe them and clean the tank easily when i have to.
I have never raised fry before so any help or advice Re.feeding, water changes ect. would be much appreciated.
Ps. the fry are currently 6 days old and i have been feeding them
liquifry no1 twice a day.
I have not peformed any water changes as yet.

when my blue acaras breed i take out about half the fry and put them into a 10g tank. theother half i leave in the 55g, from there i feed them (10g) newly hatched brine shrimp and also powdered flake food alternating each each other day (1 day brine, 1 day flake, 1 day brine, etc) i do water changes every other day of about 15-20% and i put in water from my 55g into the 10g after they are about .5" i put thm into a 20g that has about 20 babies in it right now. the 10g has no decor except a few fake plants and the 20g is fully decorated. i use colored gravel in my grow out tanks because it helps the small fish find food on the substrate. i used to have guppies in the tank too so that they would breed and the blue acaras could eat the baby guppies (contriversial). but it seems to work, my blue acaras breed about every week if the fry are eaten and they normally are because i have no more tank room to grow out fry so fry stay in the 55g until eaten.

if you have anynmore questions i am glad to help u out, as one of the only apparent blue acara breeders on AC. (Mr. JINGLES is the other blue acara breeder that i can remember) so do a search on blue acara and im sure you will bring up some of the old posts that will have a lot of good info for you.
