Blue pearl or orange shrimps?

I'm planning a shrimp only tank and cannot for the life of me decide between blue pearls or the orange variety neocaridinas (pumpkin/sunkist/etc). I know it is only a matter of opinion, but still cannot decide. Thoughts?

Or, are there any blue shrimps that breed true and won't crossbreed with the oranges? Then I could get both! LFS has blueberry shrimp, which supposedly breed true (?), but I'm guessing they would probably interbreed with the oranges...

Quite the conundrum.

The Blue Pearls and the Orange are both really easy to care for. So you can't go wrong with either. However, I personally like the Orange better due to their color "popping" out against the plants, etc. in our tanks. The Blue Pearl (at least the ones we sell) are more of an "ice blue". So they don't show up in the tanks as well as the Orange.

Blue!

I have yellow shrimp but plan on selling them off later to get blue rili shrimp. There are other bright shrimp that are different species so you should look for colors you like and make a list of what species are what color and if they crossbreed. So many to choose from.

There's a guy with a running picture thread of all these different types of shrimp he as. The blue tiger shrimp are wonderful looking and I'd love to be able to keep those if I ever started a shrimp tank

Tangerine Tigers and Blue Velvet.

That should do ya right up.

:)

Tangerine Tigers are of the Caridina species and will not cross with Neos. If keeping multiple species, they should only be kept with Neos.

Oh jeez, you're right! I read it wrong on Planet Inverts... Instead of reading "should only be kept" I read as "should not be kept". Was way too early in the AM, the hangover probably didn't help either, lol.

Thanks a bunch, now I don't have to decide! Just gotta find some tangerine tigers now... Off to AB!
