yup wetspot.. I got a special on them awhile back $30 6 pack for bolivians $36 for Blues (email specials). You are correct the price is $36 and $42,but even at $42(reg) for 6 pack of Blues it's worth it for the quality..
and it was UPS I believe.. but I only live 100 miles up the road so the UPS is next day from there to my house.
My Petco has never carried them, they have the same water as I do and it's too hard. Bolivians no problem. It's an interesting price point though. I wonder if they're domestic (doubtful) or perhaps they're trying to discourage the average buyer. They really are for experts with correct water conditions.
My closest Petsmart I visited last night had blue rams. Man I love those little buggers. They wanted $5.88/ea IIRC.
They looked scared poopless though, and there was a dead one on the bottom getting munched on by other fish in the tank.
Three total in the tank. A live pair and the dead one. I would have scooped up the two in a heart-beat if I had researched them more and was ready for them.
i wouldnt buy any fish out of any tank that has dead fish in it.... also at most petsmar/ petcos they only filter the water like every 30 min or so atleast my local ones do...
I'm not sure what you mean by only filtering the water every thirty minutes. When I worked at a big box store, our filters were always running, and the way they were running, the water was constantly getting a water change as well (there was clean water flowing into the system constantly and the old water would therefore flow out of the system). The only time we turned off the filter was to clean out the clogged parts, and we never left it off very long.
I've seldom seen Blue Rams at any LFS in my area selling for less than 14 bucks apiece. Our Petco never ever carries them. My favorite fish store never carries them because the owner had no luck keeping them alive in his display tanks. Maybe it's our hard water here.
I just ordered some on Aquabid from Joe Gargas. 6 for $41 including shipping. He's a great vendor but his prices are usually higher.
