Today I went and picked up some trumpet snails for my planted aquarium seeing that the bottom is play sand. Well I got the little guys home and they are blue!! I mean BLUE! And yes, I'm talking about their actual skin. What kind of trumpet snail are these guys! Very neat looking but they have me baffled!

Oh, on a whole different note. Why does play sand say not to use the sand in a aquarium? I've read so many places where people have used play sand so I went ahead and tried it out in my planted aquarium (its been 24 hours) and so far, nothing seems different in anyone behavior though my ADFs are lighter in color which I suspect is due to them trying to fit into the new color substrate since before they were all dark and I had dark substrate. Nothing else different except my pH is lower but then again I just added a CO2 injector...

it says not to use in aquariums so they can cover their butts legally. if something *were* to happen to your tank, you can't sue them.

LOL I know the feeling. I have canas, trumpets, this unknown snail (I've been told he may actually not be a trumpet but a different snail...), a ramshorn, a Florida Apple, a Hamstrung (sp?), and several mystery snails.

I looked for the little guy tonight but didn't find him. I'll try again tomorrow. He has a blue shell but so do the others. The others body is blue but their heads are black. The closer their shell gets to their opening, the more green it looks. Anyways, I'll keep looking for the blue headed fellow.

lol well keep me updated! I started with just a couple of gold brigs from petsmart to keep a betta tank clean, now I have hundreds and hundreds of snails of all kinds. Crazy isn't it! Better then crack I guess....=)

Sorry I haven't gotten the picture yet. I've been busy planning for a fishing trip tomorrow and working extra hours so its been a bit crazy. I've looked for him a few time but have yet to find him again. I have others (maybe older?) that have blue shells towards the end and you can tell that further down their body they are blue but there is no way to get a picture with their size. I can get a picture of their shell but I doubt the blue will show the blue that's further down their body. Anyways, I'll keep looking to see if I can't find that one.
