The starch and especially fiber would definately be good for them. Never heard of potatos, but makes sense!

My brother is a vegetarian. He often prepares sliced sweet potato by steaming them- he leaves the skin on. One evening he had a few slices left over after dinner so I was curious if bn would eat them so I fed them in a couple of tanks.
The bn loved them. The skin helped keep them together (since they had been cooked). The one caveat was that uneaten parts got pretty messy overnight and I had to do a vac to get the stuff out.
I have also had good results feeding canned green beans. get the no salt added variety and then split them along the seam, remove the seeds and drop em in- they sink
