I have a 20 gallon tall and was wanting either a pleco, some cory cats, loach or eel. I only have a 1 inch convict in there now and he will be move at some point to my 10 gallon. I was woundering what kind I can have for a 20 gallon and how many and what else I can put in with them.
I will have alot of fake plants and drift wood in the tank as soon as they come in.
Also am not a fan of danios or tetras. So I would like sugestions for other fish that like soft water.
thanks

Hi,

When you move your Convict, you should get a nice shoal of 6-8 Cories. Bronze and Peppered Cories are the easiest species to take care of, but in my opinion not the prettiest. Three-Striped Cories are also very nice too, but a little more delicate.

Plus a group of 8 Neons (I know you said that you didn't want any tetras, but I think it would look so nice) and a Dwarf Gourami as a centerpiece fish.

a 10 gallon is much to small for a convict.

a 20 gallon is the minimum that one would need.

for a schooling fish, get a group of 6 longfinned rosy barbs, and then for the bottom of the tank, you should get a fish that will stay out of the way of the convict like a birstlenose pleco, but you could try corydoras with him/her and see what happens.
