I'm moving my cories from a 10-gal I have into my new 20-gal. Anyone have any ideas about a bottom feeder for the 10-gal as a replacement? I've 'done' cories, kuhlis and ADF's in the past (not all at once of course!), and I think I'd like something different.

The tank will only have a handful of tetras, so something that would mix well with them, and preferably not hide under a rock all day either!

If anyone has a suggestion for a BF they have that's particularly cool, I'm all ears! Thanks!

agreed. there aren't too many BFs appropriate for a 10g other than cory cats, IMO.

I was worried that may have been the case...

what about a 'non fish' like shrimp or something of that nature? I've seen some little shrimp and crabs (though I've been told the crabs are a bad idea for a community tank), but know almost nothing about anything like these.

crabs need a place to haul out of the water, and they are escape artists. you could look into a variety of FW shrimp, but it really depends on what you can get round where you live. ghost shrimp and amamo shrimp would both probably work for your setup. mystery/apple snails of the bridgesi species would also work in your setup. these are the kind they typically have at lfs and petsmart-type stores, labelled as ivory, gold, or black mystery snail. this species will *usually* not eat plants, and will eat a little bit of algae. you could go with a combo of a snail and a couple shrimp?

I currently have two sucking loaches, which you can see pictures of if you look at the photo in my tank specifications. I also have a yellow/golden one aswell which are really nice! :D

They are constantly on the move, they eat any algae or old food laying around, they are quite small, and they are fun to watch! :D

Or if you prefered you could get an aquatic snail, which are also really good - especially for eating algae! :D

As for non fish bottom dwellers i have amano shrimp and cherry shrimp in one of my tanks. I also have a zebra snail that is very cool looking.

If you have fish that aren't big enough to ea tthem then shrimp are a great bottom dwellers. There are all sorts to choose from.
