As some of you know I have 4 filters 2 canister and 2 hang on and they are filled with biological media yet the free ammonia reads at .02 and the bound ammonia is 1.0 now I shouldn't be having any ammonia readings at all. I was running into problems with the plants and substrate many of the plants had rotting roots so I took out all but 3 plants and siphoned out the substrate to have the Discus in a bare bottom tank. Could these readings be like that because I took out all of the substrate? Any comments would be appreciated. By the way my avatar is one of my most beautiful Discus.
