Does anyone have one of these? I wouldnt mind having one but i know absolutely nothing about them and google only shows pictures, not information.

anything, all i know about them is that they use aipstasia anemones as boxing gloves.

Lybia tessellata

Family - Xanthidae
Order-Decapoda
Length - up to 2 inches
Behaviour - Omnivore
Life Span - up to 5 years

I had one - it was a hitchhiker on my LR. Cool little things. It has evolved a symbiotic relationship with anemones, which it carries around in it's claws for protection. The small white anemones look like little poms poms or boxing gloves, hence its name. Sometimes it will lose one or more of the anemones and will always abandon them while molting but I've never heard of them being associated with Aiptasia.

what nems do they use?

Scientific Name:Lybia tessellata

:help:do you know more about the Boxer crab, such as background information, generally characteristics, location that i can find Boxer crab....

ok my question is always... what happens when they lose their anemones? i assume in a tank they aren't going to be able to replace them.. i always see them in the fish shops without them..

This is one of the unfortunate downsides to the hobby, compared to them being in their natural habitat. Out in the ocean, they will find a new anemone with easy, in captivity, you can pretty much forget it if one of the nems dies or dissapears, as you cant buy them....

As you mention Tranc0Fusione, its very common to see these in the LFS's with no anemone(s) attached because the nems usually die off in transit...
