brackish paludarium tank mates

hi people, this is probably my first time posting after lurking around for a few

months. Okay this is the question, I'm setting up a 35 gallons ( 30 inches x 17

inches(width) x 16 inches (height) ) brackish paludarium. It's going to be 30%

land and 70% water or 35% land and 65% water. Land area will be made up of
rocks and it's a sloped rock stack. Im going to stock with say 3 - 4 red clawed

crabs. Any other tank mates suggestions? SG would be around 1.010 to

1.015.
 
Crabs are opportunistic feeders & will eat any fish they can catch.
 
Crabs would be best in a species tank. With that size tank though you could do a Mudskipper and have Mollies, Gobies, etc in the water column if you still want to do Brackish without it being a species tank. If you want the Crabs though for the fishes sake would be better as Crab only. Hope this helps and good luck!
 
Yeah, that tank would have been better for fish, instead of crabs. But if you like the crabs--they are entertaining.
 
crabs are opportunistic, but slow. only once did any of my crabs catch a fish, but didn't even kill it....

in a brackish paludarium environment, some good fish options are guppies, indian glass fish, Celebes Rainbows... you may also be able to keep amano shrimp, and olive nerite snails.

when I planned my second tank, it was meant to be brackish, and was going to house redclaws and indian glassfish. my crabs all escaped before I had a chance to raise the salinity.. so it never really happened.

but mud skippers get pretty huge...like 6 inches +/- and 2-3 mud skippers doesnt look very "fun" to me...though i love bumble bees
 
Yes, 30g would only be large enough for a single large species mudskipper but I believe there are a few smaller species (I like the larger ones though). Pretty easy for a crab to pinch, I would think.
