I recently moved my brasillian puffer to my girlfriends amazon tank from a light brackish tank (I needed to move everyone out of the tank from the Green spotted puffer, he's getting nippy). Now I removed some of the water from the container I brought him in, and replaced it half with water of the new tank.I then let him get adjusted for about 30 minutes while he calmed down from the ride over. I put him in the tank, and he eats well and everything but he just swims up and down in the back left corver behind the filter. Could the flow of water be too strong for him? She has a fluval internal a-175 filter for a 50 gallon and the tank is a 30 gallon. I also think it could be the jump from 1.012 to no salt at all. However seeing as they are primarily freshwater I thought there would be little effect. What could the problem be?

The fish hopefully will adapt. You would have been better off slowly acclimating him to the fresher water--adding a cup of FW every 30 minutes, removing half the water, repeating. As is, the fish may be shocked. Watch closely for ailments and changes in eating.

He rarely will come to the front of the tank, swimming up and down the back. He was also reluctant to swim into the tank out of the jar at first. The first fish to "greet" and by "greet" I mean nip at him was golden 3 spot gourami, which I immediately removed from the tank (seeing as she has no place in the amazon whatsoever). The rest of the puffers tankmates are 7 neon tetras, 5 cories, 5 fem. guppies , 1 male guppy (the rest mysteriously disappeared), a plecostomus, and a chinese algae eater. There were 3 pacus a blue 3 spot gourami (the golden's mate before he passed on after 3 great years), a black ghost knife. I'm hoping the puffer can't sense this was someone else's territory before him. It seems he keeps trying to get out of it. There is no background to the tank (there was in the other tank), no sand, a few plants to hide in. The current is pretty strong so I'm turned the filter off for most of the day so they can all swim around. Anyways I'm just going on and on. I'm only hoping this info can help people help me.
