Alaska!
Hello!

We have two cleaner shrimp in our 55 gallon reef tank and we recently noticed that they had green colored eggs inside of there exoskeleton. I am very interested in possibly breeding these shrimp if it is not an impossible undertaking. However, when I looked around on the web, I only found a couple of vague descriptions and they were both COMPLETLY opposite! Can anyone help?

Thanks a Ton!

Just let nature take it's course and keep your fingers crossed. ;) You don't have to breed them, they do it on their own if their needs are met. :D Survival of the offspring is another matter. :( Anything that will eat them?

Breeding them is possible, but you have to have a separate tank with gentle, but constant water motion. The larvae are planktonic for a few months, and need to be fed constantly with brine shrimp nauplii or rotifers. It's basically a full time job.

Sorry to hijack your thread but a quick question for Dave. I don't remember where I saw this but, I recall reading somewhere that with lots of the crustiescrustiestcrustinesscrustiercrueltiescrustedcrushescrustcrisiscrispiestcrusherscrutchescrispinesscriticscruditiescrusades that you need to add a couple of drops of grain alcohol to the tank water to prevent them from sticking to the surface tension? This was especially true with inverts and fish that have a very small planktonic size?
I was just wondering if this along with the other issues in s.w.S.W. babies might be a part of the reason success is so limited with these guys in the home ?
Just a thought I'll stop prattlingly now :)
